2nd place at silverstone! Turning into a bit of a habit this podium lark! A fabulous race weekend, good strong test on the friday followed by a strong qualifying and an excellent race, all underpinned by a magnificent race team in WRO racing, I look forward to racing with them next year.

A race win from 4th on the grid, helped by a crash from the leading 2 cars the lead came at the end of lap 1 and despite stiff opposition from Fiabe Sospiri in the Spritel Car, Simon held off the Italian to take his First win.

First time in the car.
First time in a front wheel drive race car.
First time at Oulton Park International circuit. First time with a new team.
2nd place! A tough weekend where we didn’t crash, fall off, spin or put a foot wrong. Unlike many of our competitors!

Long Whatton racer Simon Ward ended his season of racing in France in the best possible way by taking his first race win. Ward racing in the French Porsche-VTR championship, stormed to victory in the final round of the championship at Nevers. Loughborough Echo
Simon Ward is an established international Professional Racing Driver. His late entry into the sport followed on from a glittering Athletics Career cruelly cut short by Injury. Simon entered the world of Karting winning a National pro-kart title in his first year and immediately went into cars competing in the Formula first Winter Series. A Champion at the first time of asking, and the world stage was beckoning.
Simon got his first works drive for Morgan Walker Racing in the Renault Spider series, finishing 4th in the Championship. Simon had caught the eye of a number of team owners and one off drives in Formula 3, formula 3000 and the Vauxhall Vectra championship followed.
A test driver for DWR Porsche failed to lead to a full time drive, till Simon entered the Michelin Porsche Open Championship with Beaver Racing. Running as high as 2nd place at the Brands Hatch Porsche Festival, Simon was hot on the trail of another championship in 2006. Finances led to the vacant Porsche seat of Francois Lafon in the Porsche VTR championship, where Simon finished runner up. A test deal with Audi UK followed, then a hugely successfull 2008 season with WRO Racing, taking the Group B saloon Car Championship. 2009 looks to be an exciting year, Simon is competing in the VW Cup which will culminate in the World Cup race in Italy and will race throughout the UK and Europe including the awesome Spa-Francorchamps.
A test in a British GT Aston Martin, is hoping to lead to a full time drive in 2010.
